Malaysian Motorists Vol 20

Something to remember. It is over a year ago when this tragic accident happened.

14 August 2007 - 20 passengers were killed in the bus crash in North-South Expressway near Bukit Gantang, Changkat Jering, Perak

From:-

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) -- At least 20 people died when an express bus overturned on Malaysia's main highway Monday, tearing off the vehicle's roof and flinging seats into the air in what officials said was the country's worst traffic disaster.

Nineteen people were killed at the scene and one died at a nearby hospital in the northern town of Taiping, local fire department spokesman Amirudin Kamarudin told The Associated Press.

Nine other people on the bus were hospitalized, including a young boy and a man who were in intensive care, said a hospital doctor who spoke on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to speak to the media.

"The impact of the accident ripped off the roof," Raja Musa Raja Razak, the police chief of the area, told the AP by telephone from the site in Bukit Gantang, about 125 miles north of Kuala Lumpur.

The driver was among the dead, Raja Musa said. Previous police and news reports erroneously said the driver was injured.

"It is the worst traffic accident in the (modern) history of the nation," said Transport Minister Chan Kong Choy, who visited the scene.

The cause of the accident was not immediately apparent, although Amirudin, the fire department spokesman, said there were no skid marks on the road, indicating the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

The accident occurred before dawn on the North-South Expressway, which runs the entire length of the country from the Thai border in the north to Johor Bahru at the southern tip of the Malaysian peninsula.

National news agency Bernama said the private transport company bus was going downhill when it hit a protective barrier on the side and careened 20 yards off the road before flipping over and falling into a 20-feet-deep ditch.

Raja Musa said the weather was fine and that the downhill slope was not steep.

Malaysia has a high-quality highway system with a speed limit of 70 miles per hour. But speeding is common, and many do not follow safety procedures; tailgating occurs frequently, as does failure to signal before changing lanes.

Two dead, six injured in Cheras accident.

KUALA LUMPUR: A lorry driver lost control of his 10-tonne lorry near Taman Connaught, Cheras, here, at 9.30am Friday, ramming into seven vehicles.

One of the dead in the horrific crash involving a lorry at the Cheras-Kajang Highway was a bomb squad specialist.

The lorry driver, who also died in the crash, has been identified as Kang Ban Hin, aged 50.

Mohd Nuh Ali, 48, was riding his motorcycle to work with the General Operation Force unit in Cheras when the lorry hit him before it jumped the divider and crashed onto oncoming vehicles on the highway.

Mohd Nuh had in his many years in the Force put his life at risk diffusing bombs, mainly during training exercises.

The father of three died on the spot.

Kuala Lumpur deputy traffic police chief DSP Ng Fook Long said six people were also injured in the crash.

"They have all been admitted to the Hospital University Kebangsaan Malaysia in Cheras and are in serious condition," he added.

DSP Ng said that the lorry was turning into the Kajang-Cheras Highway from the Middle Ring Road 2, when Kang was believed to have lost control of the vehicle before smashing into Mohd Nuh, three cars, a van and an MPV.

In Malaysia, when we talk about 'mat rempit', everyone will sighing how terrible this idiots called 'mat rempit' are.

Almost every day/week/month we hear or read news about 'mat rempit'. I do not know what are exactly their issues but i thing i know for sure that this kid, who claimed to be 'king of the roads', are idiots and scumbags.

Why i said that? You know why aren't you?

Idiots because they wouldn't mind to risk their lives even other lives too to perform this so called stunts, or stupid acts to be exact. They are absolutely not Catwoman, who got 9 lives or Wolverine who can regenerate body tissues and they are totally human, immortal human being that can easily get hurt.

They can easily kill themselves and sometimes involving others in with their stupid acts. I wonder why in the hell their do such a thing. Are they got issues with their parents or what?

For those 'mat rempit' out there or 'mat remit' in the making, i want to show you 1 video i found in YouTube titled 'Bukit Putus'. See the video carefully and think again before you do something stupid on the road.

Malaysian Motorists Vol 17

Few days ago i managed to watched a movie titled Reservation Road. The story is about a tragic hit and run accident happened in front of the father's victim, a 10-years-old young boy.

No need to elaborate more on the plot of the movie or who's starred in it, just go and find the movie to watch. One thing about this movie, it made me think that, be careful on the road when you're driving with your children, ask them to fasten their seat belts and do not drive if you're tired and sleepy.

Malaysian Motorists Vol 16

Another act of lunacy from Malaysian motorists, waiting in the middle of the road to park.

Yesterday saw one lady driver waiting in her kembara, with no signal on, waiting to park her car. She just wait there for the driver infront of her take off eventhough she know that the park is illegal, parking by the roadside, a highway to be specified.

The road she's waiting is actually a corner where cars coming from the left of the junction. There's absolutely no parking slot at all, just a straight yellow line stating that we can't park there at any mean. But this lady just stop her car in the middle of the road without putting any signal.

What will happen if a car, coming from the junction, in a massive speed, turn left and the lady's car is there?

I do not know what the hell is she thinking. Totally out of of her mind and she absolutely have no idea what will happen to her & her car.

Switching your light on during heavy rain.

Not many Malaysian Motorists know about this even some of them switch on their hazard light during heavy pour. I don't know where they learn about this and who told them to do that during heavy pour.

Worst come to worst, lot of motorist don't switch their light during heavy pour. Just imagine a black car approaching form behind in heavy rain, will you notice them without any lights on? Or a car infront of you, black in colour, don't switch their light on, will you notice them too?

Common mistake, don't bother to switch any lights even though, they themselves do not see clear road infront of them. How on earth can you drive in heavy rain without any lights on?

Yes, others can see you but only when you hit the brake paddle and it is too late to do anything, just hit the rear of your car and send you to the nearest hospital.

Malaysian Motorists Vol 14

Are you out of your mind, to stop/park anywhere you want to eventhough you may block others to access the road.

Instead of park your car to the parking slot, you just playing stupid and stubborn by stopping anywhere you want and don't care whether cars approaching or not.

I know you want to stop for a minute or seconds, but, the thing is, why don't you just wait in the parking lot. Why so mean to stop your ugly car blocking others path? You got no brain or just acting so damn stupid?

There's like 4,5 free slot for parking and yet you chose to block other's road? What the hell are you thinking? Are you out of your mind? Or you got no brain?

I don't know how on earth we can teach Malaysian Motorists to practise perfect way to park their car?

Just choose the parking slot god damn it!
